This is why you see so many broken cultures at startups - burnout, high rates of attrition, overinflated salaries with companies having to overpay in a hyped-up market to attract the best people.īeing focused on scaling at the expense of creating a valuable company culture rarely creates a long-term business. But, it’s incredibly hard to scale like Uber or WeWork. But, at the same time that they’re scaling, they’re also leveraging their talent as a means to an end, treating them more as a commodity.Įveryone wants to be an entrepreneur or Elon Musk.
